Illmenite (FeTiO3) is a natural source of titanium and iron, available in either powdered (fine) or granular (coarse) form. Powdered ilmenite may be used as a colorant in glazes, and to seed crystals in titanium glazes. Granular ilmenite is used in small amounts (<1%) to colour/speckle clay bodies.
Effects similar to rutile (90% TiO2; 10% Fe2O3), but with more iron: 49% TiO2; 51% FeO.
